Mater, 2018

M A T E R, 2018

Mater, latin for “Mother”.

Mater, mother, is the place where matter is eternally generated.

There is no place on earth for eternity except in Mater. Here, the life-generating mechanisms revolve in a perpetual centrifugal movement.

In this project, ana + betânia present us a set of sculptures that celebrate life and death, interpreting myths and rituals of Judeo-Christian imagery associated with both.

We thus see the rupture with a long journey in figurative sculpture through the distortion of all references of the natural, crossing animal and botanical elements, visceral textures with cutaneous coverings, in a struggle of the fittest to survive.
